First of all, our thoughts are with all of the families affected by the Earthquake and subsequent Tsunami in Japan.
Update 06 October 2011 - Again supplies have been relitively stable with alternate sources being available for the majority of components. Costs have still creept up slightly but mostly due to exchange rates. Some contracts have been put in place to secure stable pricing.
Update 06 May 2011 - So far no major shortages have occured. Prices have crept up slightly but not by that initially envisaged. Some distributors have bought up stock with a view to increasing prices once locally held stocks are depleted. This may start to occur in the next 2-3 months. We continue to work with our suppliers to ensure supplies are maintained.
Initial Report -
We are closely monitoring our supply chain situation, although information is still limited and not entirely clear. Many components that are assembeled in other countries like Korea and Taiwan may still be affected as silicon wafers could be supplied from Japan.
Also if manufacturers plants have survived, transportation of product is another issue that the country is struggling with.
We currently have stock allocated at suppliers, or at our own site for current orders. Delivery for new orders will need to be confirmed. We are receiving updates from our suppliers as the situation changes.
Some of our main silicon suppliers have information on their websites which can be viewed via the following links:
